42. A Leicestershire circular walk to Horninghold village from the pretty village of Hallaton in the countryside of Leicestershire

Walking up to High Street, Hallaton, towards the Fox Inn.

The Fox Inn by the village duck pond.

You start the walk just down from the Fox Inn, Hallaton and take a somewhat 'hidden' (*), footpath down out of the village of Hallaton.

(* There was no footpath sign directly on the road and the footpath start is set back from the road)

You head east (actually NEE) across the fields towards the village of Horninghold.

St Peter's is a fine looking medieval church in the small village of Horninghold

It is a fine example of a 12th century church that was NOT remodelled in Victorian times.

You then head almost due north along an old county road to Fearn Farm.

Fearn Farm where you turn sharp left to head south-west back to Hallaton Village.

About half-way between Fearn Farm and Hallaton you cross over the old track bed of the disused railway Melton Mowbray - Market Harborough railway.

You finally end up by the duck pond and Fox Inn at the top end of Hallaton Village.

Back to the War Memorial and Butter Cross, and crossed he road fro refreshments in the Hare Pie Cafe, in the yard of the Bewicke Arms, Hallaton

	The Hare Pie Cafe, Hallaton village is a good place to eat, especially outside on a fine summer's day!

We then walked down High Street to the impressive medieval church in Hallaton

Most of what you see in the church today dates from the 13th, 14th and 15th century.

	The curious carved heads on the Norman font of the Church of St Michael and All Angels, Hallaton. Two are human figures and two are demons! Its not difficult to work out which is which!
